Obituary for Doris Katherine Evans
Doris Katherine Evans (nee Ford) peacefully passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Henry H. Evans, Jr.; loving mother of Doris (late Edwin) Wright, Gail Evans, Nancy (Paul) Welle and Henry Evans III; dear grandmother of Edwin Wright, Jr., Christopher Wright, Katya Evans, Kate Kemp and Matthew Welle. Mrs. Evans had 8 great grandchildren; Dakota Bennett, Faith Wright, Larissa Evans, Eli Evans, Tucker Kemp, Max Welle and Baker Welle and great-great grandchild, Maria Bennett.
She was born on October 3, 1924 to Edward and Anna (Miller) Ford in New Memphis, IL. She is survived by sister Joyce Santel. She is preceded in death by sisters, Helen Ford, Jessie Calvert, Lucille Wilson, Marjorie Walthes, Ruth Levandowski, Carol Berger, Jean Kehrer; brothers, Peter, Robert and Edward Ford and great granddaughters Ashley Evans and Gemma Welle, who both died in infancy. She also had numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Evans was a longtime member of the Caseyville United Methodist Church, serving as both financial and church secretary for many years as well as a Sunay School teacher. She belonged to the Collinsville Woman’s Club for 55 years and was on the board of the Caseyville Library for 40 years where she served as President. She was an avid reader and wonderful cook who enjoyed making large meals for holidays, birthdays and Sundays.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 19, 2022 at the Caseyville United Methodist Church from 9:30 am until 11:00 am with the Funeral service immediately following. Pastor Michael Barclay will officiate. Interment at Lakeview Memorial Gardens beside Henry, her faithful husband of 59 years. Memorials are requested to Caseyville United Methodist Church and will be accepted at the Visitation or can be mailed to Allan & Ciuferi Funeral Home, 314 West Main St., Collinsville, IL 62234.
