Obituary for Dorothy M. Miranda
Dorothy M. Miranda, age 96, of Collinsville, IL, passed away peacefully Monday, March 24, 2014 at Collinsville Rehab and Health Care Center, surrounded by her family. She was a dear wife, daughter, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was born May 31, 1917 in Neodeshea, Kansas to the late William H. and Eulalia P. (nee Higgins) White. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence A. Miranda, her son, Samuel C. Miranda, two grandsons, Stephen L. Popov and Paul G. Popov and a great granddaughter, Miranda E. Glaze. She is also preceded in death by four brothers, Volney White, Olin White, Glen White and William White, and three sisters, Alice Kemper, Audrey McLanahan and Gertrude Huntress. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Sue Anna (John) Popov of Collinsville, IL, daughter-in-law, Pollyanna Miranda of Lawrence, KS, seven grandchildren, Joanna (Larry) Glaze, Sueanna (Chip) Budde, Sarah (Charles) Snedeger, Laurie (Dr. James) Allen, Mark (Charlotte) Popov, Matthew (Wendy) Popov and Stephanie (Shawn) Sims, 15 great grandchildren, Lauren (Kent) Muniz, Sophia and Seth Popov, Hannah, Holly and Daniel Sims, Benton, Emily and Margaret Glaze, Ashley Snedeger, Albert, Grace and Samuel Allen, John and Luke Budde. Also surviving are nephews and nieces, Bill Huntress, Roger White, Shirley Dorris, Judy Geaschel and Beverly Baggio. A host of her bridge playing friends also survives. Mrs. Miranda was a homemaker and member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville, IL. Memorials are requested to Unity Hospice of Greater St. Louis, Collinsville Rehab and Health Care Center Activity Fund or Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Friends may call from 10:00 a. m. until 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Allan & Ciuferi Funeral Home in Collinsville, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a. m. Saturday at the funeral home. Dr. Dale Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
