Joan C. McGowan, age 82, of Collinsville, IL, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her husband and daughter.
She was born December 29, 1943 in St. Louis, MO to the late Major and Ida (nee Green) Leon. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her sist, Peggy Leon.
Joan was a homemaker and an avid reader who loved to frequent the Collinsville Library. Joan was not a fan of getting her picture taken, so her beloved Maggie is standing in for her, explaining her love for dogs as well.
Surviving are her husband, James (Jim) R. McGowan of Collinsville, IL and her daughter, Jena R. McGowan of Imperial, MO.
Memorials are requested to the Billhartz Animal Shelter and can be mailed to the Allan & Ciuferi Funeral Home, 314 West Main Street, Collinsville, IL 622234.
The burial will take place on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 11:00 a. m. at St. John’s Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
