Obituary for Joseph Michael Hummel
Joseph Michael Hummel, age 84, of Troy, IL, born June 22, 1932 in East St. Louis, IL, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
Joe graduated from Cathedral Boys High School in Springfield, IL in 1950 and served in the U. S. Marine Corps. He retired in 1994 as a chemical salesman from Betz-Dearborn in St. Louis, MO.
Surviving are his three children, Carl M. Hummel of Ferguson, MO, Christine M. King of Orlando, FL and Lynn M. (Roy) Schlagel of Brighton, CO; two brothers, Paul M. Hummel of Polk City, FL and David E. Hummel of Milan, MI; one sister, Theresa M. Bloss of Fairview Heights, IL; 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and his former wife of 43 years, Karen L. (nee Gabel) Hummel of St. Louis, MO.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph M. and Florence M. (nee Gilmartin)
Hummel, one son, Donald R. Hummel, one daughter, Pamela J. (Hummel) Brookhart, one sister, Viola M. West and one brother, Charles H. Hummel.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Stroke Foundation.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 25, 2016 at 10:00 a. m. at the Peace Chapel at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Belleville, IL. Father John Beveridge will officiate.
