Obituary for June Hope McCanless
June Hope French McCanless, age 86, of Troy, IL, passed from this life on June 5, 2017, in Georgetown Texas, surrounded by her family. She was born at City Hospital in St. Louis and raised in Cherryville, MO. She married Wallace McCanless and they raised their children in Washington Park and Pocahontas, IL. June and Wally then moved to Rolling Fork, MS, where she worked as a bookkeeper/secretary until retiring.
June was preceded in death by her husband Wallace McCanless; father Louis Wayne French and mother Bertha Mae Gray French; brothers Louis French Jr. and Virgil French, and sisters Leota Fletcher and Mae Sparrow. She is survived by her brother John French (Elsie) of Glen Carbon, IL, and her five children Wallace Loyal (Marilyn) of Cedar Hill, MO, Judith Colleen Biehle (Thomas) of Georgetown, TX, Russell Wayne of Shook, MO, Gordon Leonard “Lenny” (Nancy) of Troy, IL, and William Charles (Karen Christine) of Austin, TX, as well as twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
June loved to drive her car and drove to see her family every chance she got which was usually every weekend. She loved to dance and never missed a chance when one of her sons or grandsons was playing music. She loved life and lived for her children.
Memorials are requested to Shriner's Hospital for Children.
There will be a memorial gathering to celebrate June's life at the Allan & Ciuferi Funeral Home at 314 W. Main Street in Collinsville, Illinois, on July 14, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
