Obituary for Lydia M. Sheffield
Lydia Marie Sheffield (nee Cavaletti), age 94, lifelong resident of Collinsville, IL, born April 2, 1919 in Collinsville, to George and Mary (nee Bontempo) Cavaletti, passed away May 3, 2013 at her home. Mrs. Sheffield was a graduate of Brown Business College, and was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Sheffield, who passed away October 4, 2007, her son-in-law, Scott McClary, brothers and sister-in-law, James "Judge" and Stella Cavaletti and Aldo Cavaletti. Surviving are her four children, and their families, daughter, Marsha Goodall of Collinsville, and her son Grant (Gigi) Goodall of Belleville, and their children Benjamin and Natalie Goodall; daughter, Diane (Artie) Hartman of Collinsville and their children, Robb Hartman of Collinsville and Brent Hartman (Laura) Hartman of Collinsville, and their children, Kate and Clayton Hartman; son, Kenneth (Patricia) Sheffield of Fountain Hills, Arizona; and daughter, Kandis McClary and her children, Kyle and Ryan McClary of Maryville, IL. Also surviving are her loving and supportive nieces and nephews, Betty and Miles Bolick, Carol and Maurice Kramper, Jim and Sue Cavaletti, George and Shirley Cavaletti, and Norman and Kathy Cavaletti, and sister-in-law, Emma Cavaletti. Special appreciation is given to the staff of Hospice of Southern Illinois, especially her dedicated nurse, Juli and Susan; her family and friends for their care, and to the Cedarhurst staff for their continued love and support in caring for Lydia. Memorial donations in honor of Lydia are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Private Graveside Services will be held.
