Obituary for Margaret E. Haig
Margaret E. Haig, 91, of Collinsville, IL, passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Relais Bonne Eau Hospice Home in Edwardsville, IL at 10:55 p. m. She was born November 15, 1923 in Caseyville, Illinois to the late Alexander D. and Mary A. (nee Seipp) Haig. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by one brother, Irvin Haig and four sisters, Euphemia Haig, Inez Kuhlmann, Iva Mowe and Elvera Pazdera. Miss Haig was a certified professional secretary for the regional Vice-President of Continental Can Company in St. Louis for over 40 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Collinsville, Faith In Action and the Association of Professional Secretaries. She loved sports, particularly golf and enjoyed watching the Cardinals and Rams games, professional tennis and The Olympics. Margaret was an avid reader and played the piano, organ, violin, saxophone and clarinet. She also sang in many choirs, trios, and quartets. Surviving are twin sisters, Berniece Lunde and Verniece Cox, both of Collinsville, IL, Audrey M. LaSurs of Collinsville, IL and Marilyn (Robert) Bussen of St. Cloud, FL. Also surviving are 12 nieces and nephews and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Relais Bonne Eau Hospice Home for their compassionate care and professionalism. Memorials are requested to the First United Methodist Church or Faith In Action and can be sent to the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the First United Methodist Church. Family graveside services will be held at Caseyville Cemetery, Caseyville, IL. Pastor Mark Horn will officiate.
