Obituary for Mildred E. "Mitzi" Rayho
Mildred E. "Mitzi" Rayho, age 86, of Collinsville, formerly of Mascoutah, IL, passed away May 16, 2014 at her residence. She was born July 26, 1927 in Poplar Bluff, MO, to the late Obadiah Fairless and Irene (nee Drysdale) Fairless-Walkley. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, John F. Rayho, Sr., her son, John F. Rayho III and daughter-in-law, Marcia Rayho. Mitzi was the military spouse for over 63 years of USAF Chief Master Sgt. John F. Rayho, Sr. who served from World War II through the end of the Vietnam War. She was a classic movie buff, nationally renowned miniaturist and avid doll maker and collector. In her later years she was a champion for animal rescue and a pet foster parent. Surviving are her son, Scott (Linda) Rayho of Collinsville, 8 grandchildren, Kara (Hossam) Shalaby, Dawn Rayho, Elizabeth (John) Thalgott, Donna Rayho, Gregory Rayho, Kelly (Stevie) Sipes, Sarabeth (Evan) Ackerman and Capt. John F. Rayho IV and 7 great-grandchildren, Aspen Sipes, Cameron Cogswell, Landon Sipes, Alexandra Rayho, Amir, Basem and Yousef Shalaby, and special caretaker Stephanie Fitch. Memorials are requested to Animal Rescue & Relief Foundation (ARRF) of Southwest Illinois at P. O. Box 397, Caseyville, IL 62232. A private memorial service honoring Mitzi's life will be held at a later date.
