Obituary for Ray
Raymond (Ray) E. Landing, age 88, of Cahokia Heights, IL, formerly of Collinsville, IL, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024 at his residence.
He was a jockey for over 25 years and was a lead rider at Fairmont Race Track and Tampa Bay Downs in the 1970’s. Ray had a long, productive life in horse racing. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his Crown Royal. He was a current beloved associate at the Wal-Mart in Waterloo, IL.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John H. and Viola C. (nee Binsbacher) Landing, his wife, Robin E. (nee Stone) Landing, who passed away in 2018, one brother, Donald Landing and one sister, Audrey Nash.
Surviving are his daughters, Linda Landing (Scott) Rayho of Collinsville, IL, Lori (Mark) Rieker of Oviedo, FL and Crystal Stone (Mark Schreader) of Collinsville, IL; 6 grandchildren, Gregory Rayho, Kelly (Stevie) Sipes, Nash (Katy) Rieker, Austin Rieker, Reily (Matt) Martin and Esa Schreader; 4 great-grandchildren, Aspen Sipes, Cameron Cogswell, Landon Sipes and Theo Rieker, along with multiple nieces and nephews.
Memorials are requested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, HBPA (Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association) or Gateway Pet Guardians.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Allan & Ciuferi Funeral Home, 314 West Main St., Collinsville, IL. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor David Amsden will officiate.
Graveside services will take place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Stanton Cemetery, Stanton, MO.
