Obituary for Richard E. Tiemann

Richard E. Tiemann, of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Collinsville, IL, passed away April 23, 2026 at Silverado Dementia Care Facility in Las Vegas.



He was born March 12, 1939 in East St. Louis, IL to the late Erwin C. and Adele A. (nee Giacomini) Tiemann. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen A. (Kathy) (nee Owens) Tiemann, one daughter, Kyle Lynn Flynn and one son, Christopher W. Tiemann.



Rich is survived by his wife, Mary J. (nee Frey) Tiemann of Las Vegas, NV, one son, Mark R. (Susan) Tiemann of O’Fallon, MO, 2 step-children; William (Billy) R. (Ashley) Johnson III, of Wildwood, MO and Ashley M. (Mike) Spies of Weehawken, NJ. He is also survived by one sister, Diane L. (Walter) Bohn; a son-in-law, Kevin P. Flynn; 6 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren.



He was a former member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Collinsville, Collinsville Lions Club, Marine Corps League, Board of Directors of Home Federal Savings & Loan and Past President of Kaskaskia Chapter #145 American Savings & Loan Institute.



Rich served in the U. S. Marine Corps and then began his career at the former Home Federal Savings and Loan as a teller in October 1960 and became CEO in February 1975 and President in January 1979. He retired from there December 31, 2005.


Memorials are requested to Billhartz Animal Shelter and can be mailed to the funeral home.


Private committal services will be held at a later date.
