Obituary for Wanda L. Phillips
Wanda Lee Phillips, n̩e Wilkinson, age 85, of Collinsville, IL, born August 5, 1929 in Billings, Montana, passed away Thursday afternoon February 19, 2015 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL surrounded by her friends and family. A 45 year breast cancer survivor, Mrs. Phillips had been active in the Junior Service Club and PEO and as a Sunday school teacher. Over the years, she was a scout leader for both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She supported her husband through his business "Phillips TV", which they owned until 1976. Together they enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating. They eventually took up house boating, which they did for many years on the Mississpi , Missouri, and Illinois Rivers. In 1979, they moved to Osage Beach, MO, where Wanda became a licensed realtor and was even named Realtor of the Year. They returned to Collinsvillle in 2005. Wanda was full of life, and she and Jerry created great memories for their children. They were faithful members of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Glen Carbon, where they had many wonderful friends. Surviving are her children, Jerry Phillips of San Diego, CA, Judi (Jan) Ashcraft of Collinsvillle and Dr. Carrie L. (Sandi Perlman) Phillips of Indianapolis, Ind., her grandchildren Ian (Tori Green) Ashcraft , Natalie Phillips and Caitlyn Ashcraft; great-grandchild Riley Hewlett; dear best friend Mary Lou (late Carl) Schultze, of Collinsville, brother Raleigh (Kathy) Wilkinson of Homer Glen, IL, sister Patricia (Karl) Rebenscheid of Collinsville, and her dear church friends at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jerry W. Phillips, whom she married September 8, 1950 at the former Christ Episcopal Church in Collinsville; her parents, Laurice and Lucille, nee Whittle, Wilkinson; and her infant brother Oliver. Memorial donations are kindly requested to St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Online condolences may be offered at www.acfuneral.com. Visitation: Friends may call from 2:00 until 5:00 p. m., Sunday, February 22, 2015 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 182 Summit Avenue, Glen Carbon, IL. Funeral Services: 9:00 a.m. Monday, February 23, 2015 at the church with Father Tony Clavier presiding. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Collinsville, IL
