Obituary for Dwight Taylor
Dwight Taylor, age 85, of Collinsville, IL, born February 11, 1932 in Carrollton, IL, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Dwight grew up in Shipman, IL, and graduated from Southwest High School. He attended Washington University, St. Louis, where he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Taylor was employed for many years as an attorney at the Collinsville Building and Loan, and he also served as the Collinsville City Attorney for over thirty years. He was instrumental in city development, including the Eastport Plaza and the Gateway Conference Center. He enjoyed golfing, loved his dogs, and took great pride in his yard, twice earning him "Yard of the Month" title.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll "Casey" and Irene, nee Travers, Taylor, his son Dennis, and his sister Dottye.
Surviving are his wife Jo Ann, nee Hoehm, Taylor; children Greg (Deb) Taylor, Marti (Steve) Snellback, Brad (girlfriend Sarah Lewis) Taylor, Laura (boyfriend John Copeland) Powell, and Amy McDaniel; brother Gene Taylor, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and a trusted friend and colleague Debbie Peccola.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to your favorite local pet rescue center or humane society.
Memorial Visitation: The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 30, 2017 at Allan & Ciuferi Funeral Home, 314 West Main Street, Collinsville. The US Army Honor Guard will present the flag at 6:00 p. m.
