Obituary for Robert W. (Bob) Petrie
Robert W. (Bob) Petrie, 89, of Quincy, IL, formerly of Freeport, IL, passed away Monday, March 12, 2012 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. He was born October 28, 1922 in Bayonne, NJ to the late Francis and Lydia (nee Martin) Petrie. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Francis and Alfred Petrie. Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Phoebe (nee Smith) Petrie of Quincy, IL, two sons, Robert Petrie of Raleigh, NC and Martin (Lisa) Petrie of Collinsville, IL. Also surviving is one sister, Agnes Bow of White Pine, TN, seven grandchildren, Helen Lundy, Phoebe Swanson, Cameron, Mason and Grant Petrie, Nathan and Stephanie Grimm and 12 great grandchildren. He owned The Treasure Chest Gift Shop in Durand, IL and retired from there in 1988. Bob was a World War II Merchant Marine veteran, a member of First Lutheran Church in Freeport, Past Master of Evergreen Lodge #170 A.F. & A.M., 32nd degree Valley of Freeport, Past Commander of Freeport Commandery, Order of White Shrine of Jerusalem / Capernium #4, Order of Eastern Star, Durand, IL and Zor Shrine Temple, Madison, WI. Memorials are requested to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Collinsville or the Illinois Veterans Home, 1707 North 12th Street, Quincy, IL 62301. Masonic Services will be held Friday, March 16, 2012 at 8:45 a.m. at the Allan & Ciuferi Funeral Home. Committal service and interment will be at 10:00 a.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. Pastor Michael Walther will officiate.
